Persian Carpets

Carpets add allure to the design of a home. Whether laid out on the floor or used as a decorative piece for the wall, a carpet makes the home look like an embodiment of skilled art. Carpets are known to have been used by people 2500 years ago and are still treasured to date.

Persian carpets are commonly from Iran and the designs used on these Iranian carpets are imitated by weavers from foreign countries. Iran is the largest producer of carpets which are handmade in the world. It has also been established as the biggest exporter of these kinds of carpets. In the recent times, these carpets have faced tight competition from carpets made using machines.

Persian carpets are different from other types of carpets in that they are hand made and dyed with fabric dyes. They do not run when they get moist. They are made with circular designs and have many knots that make them high quality to the feel.

One should think of methods on how to keep the Persian rugs so that they avoid cleaning too often because frequent washing can cause damage. Vacuum it one time every week. Don't allow any of your visitors to step on the carpet with their shoes. Use cleaning agents which don't contain toxic chemicals. One can use vinegar and water to clear blots as opposed to using cleaning agents which could contain harmful chemicals.

Organic stains such as urine and vomits can be removed by using enzyme based cleaning agents, ammonia or vinegar. Stains from milk, caffeine, baby milk and draught beer can be easily removed by the use of club soda together with a small amount of solution used for cleansing. If wine is spilt on the carpet accidentally, wash the stain away with vinegar, mild soap, clear water or a little white wine. To remove dirt from sweat, one has to let it dry before one tries to remove it from the carpet. Once the dirt dries, one can scrape it off. This will prevent the dirt from spreading to other areas of the carpet. Once one has done this, one can continue cleaning the carpet with soap.
